A Trip to Maju Motors

Had a quick trip at MM (Maju Motors) the other day. I couldn't get any picture due to the fact that my phone camera's not working (What)!

So the Volkswagen Eos and Tiguan is on sale right now (4% on bank interest! Lower cost price too respectively for both models). Looks like they probably getting the car off for newer batch and to grab more sellers to buy the upcoming Volkswagen Scirocco and Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk. 6 which will come in our way soon!

The Scirocco will come in two model specs to MM:







The Low Spec version will have:
- New 2.0 TSI Engine, with DSG Gearbox.
- Climatic Sun-roof is not Included
- Non-Xenon HID Front Headlamps
- Non-ACC Suspension*
- 17" Alloy Wheels*

The High Spec version will have:
- New 2.0 TSI Engine, with DSG Gearbox.
- Climatic Sun-roof
- Xenon HID Front Projector Headlamps
- Front Fog Lamps Fitted
- ACC Suspension
- 19" Alloy Wheels
- Touch-screen Stereos*

It's said to be debuted by next month hopefully, and.. pricing would be around $52,000+ for the low spec version, and $60,000+ for the high spec version.

Now also not to forget one of our favorite hot hatch, the Golf GTI Mk. 6!





This one will be launched in August at the price tag of $58,000+. Like the Mk. 5, all of the new Mk. 6 GTI's would only come in DSG Gearbox (Sorry stick drivers!)

Afterall, these news were only confirmed by the salesperson that I spoke with. I might get to him again for more updates soon.

VAG Club Brunei First Gathering

First VAG-Club meet. *Teaser*

Even though it was only a short but brief meet, glad to see few of you guys came up. I didn't took any photo cause my phone cam didn't worked. This is the only shot taken by Sparky (thanks), but then again.. he was on low-batt!

Even Brunei Compact Tuners/Brunei Carzine (Whops?) decided to came for our short meet. He's doing a small coverage for us so yeah, I'll post it up here soon. Didn't expected it, but oh well thanks alot bro! Sorry for alot of explainations going on during the meet.

Then again, it was a success for the club for it's first and very own, VAG-Club meet! Thanks everyone who came up!

*Member Notice* VAG-meet

Venue of first meet: Indoor Stadium Parking Lot, Berakas.

The first meet would be gradually sharing thoughts and few ideas, or some information about your ride. Anyone who has a dSLR are greatly appreciated to take pictures of the meet then could e-mail me for the raw photos for me to upload to the site.

Please do bring along any people you know who owns a VAG too! Even if they're not interested in joining the club or anything. As for the others, if you still haven't emailed me and wish to join the club, you can also come for the meet. We'll speak from there. :)

Wondering around with your intake scoop

Ever wondered what's that extra piping on the OEM intake scoop does? The piping that extends from the throttle body hose and into somewhat kind of canister or container?

The answer is: It's a Helmholtz resonator used to decrease induction noise.

That empty piece of plastic is called a Helmholtz resonator. Really. And it's just empty. Actually not: It's full of air. It's attached to the ducting between your air cleaner and the intake manifold. And although it looks like it can't have any real purpose, it does. It's there to reduce the noise your engine intake duct makes.

Huh? -- It has an interior volume with a very specific resonant frequency, like an organ pipe. Pressure pulses traveling back and forth in the duct have a resonant frequency as well. A pressure pulse whipping past the entrance to the resonator (at the speed of sound) partially enters its cavity. The pulse then bounces off the far end of the resonator, and returns back to the duct a very short time later.

By now the pressure pulse has traveled a half-wavelength farther along the duct. The pressure pulse re-entering will cancel out at least part of the negative pulse at that point. The net result is reduced noise, at least at or near the resonant frequency of the resonator. Many car manufacturers use this technique to reduce intake-tract noise. Some vehicles have several of these devices in different places along the duct. This device should have no effect whatsoever on the performance of your engine.

So to those looking for stronger induction noise, remove this! It's that simple. Remove it and replace the whole throttle body hose with a stainless or some throttle-hose specific silicone hoses. Get that!
